Paying

Card, DuitNow QR or your insurance panel

Ask us whether your company panel covers a visit before you come in. We’ll check for you.

Your first visit

About forty-five minutes, step by step.

If it’s been a while, or you’re nervous, this is exactly what happens, in order.

  1. 10 min

    We say hello

Arrive ten minutes early. We’ll ask about your health and anything that worries you about the visit.

  2. 20 min

    We look, then explain

A check-up and, only if we need them, X-rays. You’ll see what we see on the screen beside the chair.

  3. 10 min

    You decide

We explain your options and their costs in writing. Nothing happens until you’ve agreed to it.

  4. Afterwards

    Until next time

Most people come back every six months for a check-up and a clean. We’ll send a reminder; you can say no.

Treatments

What each one involves, and what to ask us.

Check-up & cleanA look at your teeth and gums, and a scale and polish.

What it involves

We check each tooth, your gums and your bite, then remove the hardened deposits brushing can’t (scaling) and polish. X-rays only if we need to see something we can’t see directly.

Worth asking us

  • How often should I come back?
  • Is there anything I should change at home?

Typically: 1 visit, about 45 minutes. We give you a written estimate before any treatment.

FillingsRepairing a tooth where decay or a crack has started.

What it involves

We numb the area, remove the damaged part of the tooth and rebuild it, usually with a tooth-coloured material that’s set with a blue light.

Worth asking us

  • What material will you use, and why?
  • How long do fillings like this usually last?

Typically: 1 visit. We give you a written estimate before any treatment.

Root canal treatmentTreating an infected or inflamed nerve inside the tooth, to keep the tooth.

What it involves

Under local anaesthetic, we clean out the inside of the tooth, disinfect it and seal it. Back teeth usually need a crown afterwards to protect them.

Worth asking us

  • Will this tooth need a crown afterwards?
  • What happens if I choose not to treat it?

Typically: Usually 2–3 visits. We give you a written estimate before any treatment.

Braces & clear alignersMoving teeth gradually, with brackets or with removable clear trays.

What it involves

We take scans and X-rays, then plan the movement with you. Treatment usually runs over many months, with check-ins every few weeks.

Worth asking us

  • Am I suited to aligners, or would braces work better?
  • What does the full treatment cost, including retainers?

Typically: A course of treatment. We give you a written estimate before any treatment.

Teeth whiteningLightening the shade of natural teeth, at the studio or at home.

What it involves

We check your teeth and gums first; whitening isn’t suitable for everyone. Fillings and crowns don’t change colour, so we’ll talk through what to expect.

Worth asking us

  • Will my fillings or crowns match afterwards?
  • Is sensitivity likely for me?

Typically: 1–2 visits, or a home kit. We give you a written estimate before any treatment.

Children’s dentistryCheck-ups from the first tooth, at a pace that suits your child.

What it involves

Early visits are mostly about getting comfortable: counting teeth, a ride in the chair, and advice for parents on brushing and snacks.

Worth asking us

  • When should my child first come in?
  • What should we do about thumb-sucking?

Typically: Every 6 months. We give you a written estimate before any treatment.

Questions we hear every week.

Does scaling damage my enamel?
No. Scaling removes hardened deposits (calculus) that brushing can’t. Done properly, it doesn’t remove enamel.
Do I need X-rays every visit?
No. We take them only when we need to see something we can’t see directly, which for most adults is every one to two years.
I’m nervous about the dentist. What can you do?
Tell us when you book. We’ll explain each step before we do it, agree a signal to stop, and you can sit up and talk any time.
When should my child first visit?
Around their first tooth, or by their first birthday. Early visits are short and mostly about getting comfortable.
